Cocktails and Liqueurs

Welcome to the Bar!

This page will document all my experiments in mixology. Drinking is ok, but I have much more fun making the drinks and refining my technique. On the rare occassion I go to a party, you'll find me in the kitchen making drinks for everyone else. :3

What's on the menu?

Pumpkin Spice Liqueur

Hands down one of my favorite things I've ever made. Sweet and spicy with a ginger kick. Delicious on its own or a great flavor for cocktails. A few of the recipes below rely on this one. You'll wanna crack all the whole spices for a better extract. No need to grind them, just break them into pieces. Extract time is around 2 weeks, and make sure to strain it well to avoid grit. Use the strained off solids from the vodka extract in the syrup. Make sure that's well strained as well.

Liqueur Ingredients

  • 3 cup dark simple syrup
  • 2 tsp whole cloves
  • 2 tsp whole allspice
  • 1 tsp whole black pepper
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 whole nutmeg
  • 2½ in lobe of ginger, thinly sliced
  • 2½ cup 100 proof vodka

Dark Simple Syrup Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1½ cup cane sugar
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • Strained off spices from the extract
French Perfume

A floral and citrussy cognac drink. I made this to use some of the lavender hibiscus liqueur my cousin sent me for Christmas.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz cognac
  • 1 ½ oz lavender hibiscus liqueur
  • ½ oz demerara syrup
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 hibiscus flower for garnish
Cucumber Mint Gin Fizz

Kinda fell backwards into this one. It was a hot afternoon in August and I started combining every refreshing thing I had in the fridge. Absolute stunner of a summer drink. Muddle the cucumber and mint in the glass!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ oz London dry gin
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • 2 oz seltzer
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 2 or 3 sprigs of fresh mint
Autumn Blaze

Spicy and herbal rum drink with a ginger kick. This drink showcases my homemade pumpkin spice liqueur.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Jamaican rum
  • 1 oz Amaro Montenegro
  • 1 oz dry curacao
  • 1 oz pumpkin spice liqueur
  • 1 cinnamon stick for garnish
  • 1 star anise for garnish
Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini

What if you took a fall classic, and made it boozy? Another drink using my homemade pumpkin spice liqueur, a simple variation on a modern classic.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz cold brew concentrate or fresh espresso
  • ¾ oz pumpkin spice liqueur
  • 3 coffee beans for garnish
Saotome Special

I made this to celebrate the announcement of the Ranma (2024) remake! On paper, it's just a Tom Collins with butterfly tea blossom gin. To make the gin, simply steep butterfly tea blossoms in London dry gin. Make the Collins as normal, but keep the lemon juice aside. I mixed a little edible glitter in mine and poured it in the same style ladle the little old lady in the series uses. When you mix in the lemon juice, the color changes from blue to pink! Just like our favorite genderfluid martial artist.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz butterfly pea blossom gin
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • 2 oz seltzer
  • 1 pinch edible glitter
  • 1 lemon wheel for garnish
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish
Christmas on the Enterprise

An early experiment in my own cocktails, as well as my first homemade syrup. A bit complicated, but a nice gin-y spiced flavor.

Drink Ingredients

  • 2 oz Earl Grey gin
  • ½ oz Cointreau
  • ¼ oz genepy
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz Christmas syrup
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 2 dashes cardamom bitters
  • 1 orange twist for garnish

Christmas Syrup Ingredients

  • 1½ cup turbonado sugar
  • ¾ oz water
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 star anise
  • 5 cardamom pods
  • 6 whole cloves
  • ½ oz grated ginger
  • ½ tsp allspice
Mushroom Vodka

Sometimes you have an idea. Sometimes you act on it. On rare occassions it might even work out for you. This unholy concoction has a pleasently earthy flavor, but I'd recommend using it in cooking over drinking. I'm not responsible for any belly-aches from someone who drinks this.

Ingredients

  • 3 cup 100 proof vodka
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ⅝ tsp corriander
  • ½ tsp dill seed
  • ⅛ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ cup dried morels
  • ½ cup dried porcini
  • 3 sprigs rosemary
Amaretto

I made this mostly for my dad for Christmas, as it's his favorite liqueur. Considering how easy this recipe is, it's amazing how good it tastes. So almondy it's almost cherry.

Liqueur Ingredients

  • 2½ cup dark simple syrup
  • 2 tbsp almond extract
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cup vodka

Dark Simple Syrup Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
